As outlined above, the main symptoms of IBS are abdominal pain with either constipation or diarrhea. Many times, the constipation and diarrhea will alternate back and forth. Other common symptoms include bloating, gas and cramps.
Symptoms of IBS can range from mild to severe. Whatever the level, irritable bowel syndrome can greatly impact your lifestyle making it difficult to perform daily activities. This can lead to increased stress and anxiety magnifying the symptoms of IBS even more.
Irritable bowel syndrome is generally classified into one of the following categories:
(1). IBS-C: Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation.
(2). IBS-D: Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea
(3). IBS-A: Irritable bowel syndrome with alternating constipation and diarrhea
Chiropractic health care focuses on the health of the body’s central nervous system. Doctors of chiropractic are trained to identify and treat problems with the nerves of the human body. When your central nervous system is healthy, all systems of the body are working properly, including your bowels and digestive system.
Like all organs and systems within the human body, your intestines are controlled by the brain via nerves. Signals go back and forth from the brain to the intestines which control how the intestines function. If there is interference in the nerve signals (known as a subluxation) between the brain and intestines, it can cause problems or irregularities with how the bowels function.
Chiropractic care removes subluxations which impact nerves and inhibit the body’s normal functions and ability to heal. When we identify where subluxations exist, we can remove the interference and restore normal functions.
The best feature about chiropractic care is that it does not use over-the-counter medications or expensive prescription drugs to treat irritable bowel syndrome.
We address IBS by using chiropractic adjustments to remove subluxations and optimize the body’s immune system. In addition, we provide patients with a specific protocol to follow which includes nutrition guidance and certain products and supplements.
The following is an example of the Protocol for irritable bowel syndrome:
(1). Chiropractic adjustments and care as recommended by Baker Chiropractic physician.
