Gout Pain

Cincinnati Gout Solutions and Relief

Gout Pain Relief from Baker Chiropractic and WellnessGout is an extremely painful form of arthritis characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, redness and tenderness in joints. The joint at the base of the big toe is the one most commonly affected by Gout, but it can form in any joint throughout your body.

Gout strikes between 3-5 adults per thousand and more than 95% of gout cases occur in men age 30 and older. It is estimated that over 6 million Americans suffer from gout.

Gout sufferers either produce too much uric acid or have problems excreting uric acid from their bodies. Both conditions result in an overage of uric acid which can crystallize in the joints and cause severe pain.

At Baker Chiropractic and Wellness, we have been helping patients inflicted with gout for nearly 20 years. With our safe and effective chiropractic care and guidance, we have developed an impressive history of reducing and eliminating the excruciating pain associated with gout. Please contact us by calling (513) 561-2273 or Schedule an Appointment here on our website at one of our four Cincinnati area clinic locations. We can help you escape the painful grip of gout too!

What is Gout and What Causes Gout?

Over a period of time, abnormally high levels of uric acid in the blood form needle-like crystals that accumulate in joints and cause pain. Gout is caused by this elevated level of uric acid in the bloodstream.

Uric acid is a waste product from the normal breakdown of cells and proteins within the body. Excessive levels of uric acid can be the result of an increase in uric acid production, the inability of the kidneys to properly filter uric acid from the bloodstream or both.

When a person’s kidneys do not function normally, they are susceptible to developing gout. Diet is another leading cause. Over time, the consumption of certain foods and beverages can increase uric acid levels and precipitate gout. Obesity and hypertension are also contributors of elevated uric acid levels.

Protocol for Gout

As outlined above, gout is the accumulation of uric acid crystals resulting in acute arthritis and joint inflammation. We address gout with a specific protocol which includes chiropractic adjustments, nutrition guidance and  certain products and supplements.

Gout Symptoms

Gout symptoms commonly include inflammation, swelling, tenderness, warmth and redness in the affected joint. Touching or moving the joint is extremely painful. The pain may be accompanied by a mild fever.
Gout forms quickly and usually impacts only one joint at a time which is often times the joint at the base of the big toe. However, it can develop in more than one joint simultaneously.

Medications and Gout

Many prescription medications can increase the uric acid levels in the body and lead to the development of gout. Examples of these medications include, but are not limited to:

• Diuretics
• Aspirin
• Cholesterol Medications

Medications prescribed for the treatment of gout may help relieve symptoms, but they do not address the source of the problem. At Baker Chiropractic and Wellness, we do not mask symptoms with prescription medications. We are focused on finding the root cause of a health condition. Then, developing an effective treatment plan to eliminate the pain and correct the problem.
